If you expect luxury, it’s not ultra-fancy, but the experience is very good.
If you like getting closer to nature, this place delivers. The tents are well equipped (comfortable enough, private, clean) and the setting is beautiful, bordering Wilpattu National Park. Staff in general are warm, professional, with good knowledge of wildlife; safaris are well organised. For us, everything went really smooth, though. Meals are good (especially breakfast) and the overall vibe is relaxing. If you expect luxury, it’s not ultra-fancy, but the experience is very good.

Overall, I couldn't fault a thing on this campsite.
Okay, so when all is said and done with dinner and safaris, this is not a cheap place to stay, but it was amazing. I stayed here with my family - two adults, three kids aged 12 to 17 - on the last night of our 12-day holiday in Sri Lanka, and it was amazing. Everything was as we hoped it would be: great location, staff were very helpful, playing basketball in the jungle, night walks looking at animals, and of course the safari was the best of all. I think we were lucky enough to see a leopard up close. I don't know if everyone will, but if you do, it's a wonderful experience. I've been waiting all my life to see a leopard up close, and they just did everything right on this day. Overall, I couldn't fault a thing on this campsite.

The tents are nicely decorated and quite comfortable for a tent
Great camp, perfect if you are visiting Wilpattu. The tents are nicely decorated and quite comfortable for a tent. The staff made us feel really welcome. Food and service was great. Safaris were well organized with skilled guides. Great experience for my family.

The site itself is already very beautiful, and the tents are extremely comfortable and pretty
We tried the glamping experience and two safaris: one in the afternoon, and another one the next day in the morning. What an amazing experience! The site itself is already very beautiful, and the tents are extremely comfortable and pretty. The food was great, and we really enjoyed the bonfire in the evening, where we could have a chat with the lovely staff and gaze at the stars. The foot spa before dinner was also a very nice touch. The safaris themselves offered astonishing views (lots of animals spotted!), and our naturalist was very knowledgeable, which we truly appreciated. It is a must-do if you go to Wilpattu!

A Favourite Spot, This Time with the Family!
Mahoora has always been one of my favourite places – peaceful, relaxing, and surrounded by nature. This time, we enjoyed it with the family, and it was just as wonderful! The food was delicious, the campsite was clean and comfortable, and the staff were very friendly and welcoming. A perfect weekend getaway and a truly memorable experience!
